From November 5th to November 9th, 14 selected Fintech companies developing product to strengthen financial inclusion in Africa were in Luxembourg to follow a tailor made programme for Fintech startup development, Catapult: Inclusion Africa Programme, organised by the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT) and sponsored by PwC Luxembourg and Luxembourg Aid & Development. InFiNe.lu has been partner of Catapult contributing with one session introducing the participants to the Luxembourg inclusive finance ecosystem.
The goal of Catapult was to leverage Luxembourg Inclusive Finance and Fintech ecosystem to support these firms in developing their businesses and achieving their inclusion goals, creating synergies between them, partners, investors, and public financial institutions.
During one week, these companies had the opportunity to follow sessions on business mapping, scaling business, understanding and evaluating metrics, legal and marketing topics.
At the end of the week, a pitch competition was organised among the 14 startups. The award of EUR 5000 and a free ticket to attend the next African Microfinance Week was given to Four One Financial Services Limited, a started based in Uganda, and its product Mayicard. Mayicard is a electronic wallet allowing individuals and companies their cash flow, to save and to have an easier access to health insurance and pension plan.
