Field trip to Kashf Foundation, winner of the 2016 European Microfinance Award

InFiNe.lu, co-organiser of the European Microfinance Award with e-MFP and the MAEE, was in Pakistan last month to pay a visit to Kashf Foundation, the winner of the 2016 European Microfinance Award on “Microfinance and Access to Education”.

Kashf Foundation won the 2016 Award in recognition of its education finance programme for low cost private schools. The objective of the fieldtrip was to witness what has been achieved and implemented with the Award and its impact.

The Kashf Education Finance Programme supports low cost private schools of minimum 80 students out of which 40% are girls by providing:

  • Access to loan of PKR 60.000 – 300.000 for infrastructure improvements, furniture purchase, resource material and stationary, and office equipment
  • School owner capacity building trainings
  • Teacher trainings in pedagogy and teaching skills
  • Financial Education for Youth curriculum for students studying at those low cost private schools

In order to improve its assessment process by better mapping its clients and providing a quicker answer to the new ones, Kashf Foundation is now digitally collecting data through tablets.

Thanks to the 100.000€ Award, Kashf Foundation also decided to implement a preventive training module on Child Sexual Abuse in Lahore and Kasur area where a case of the death of a sexual abused child shook the whole country.

These are the Kashf Foundation Education Finance Programme achievements made with the support of the European Microfinance Award:
