Organiser: Women's World Banking, International Finance Corporation (IFC)
Event type: Conference

Women’s World Banking and IFC are co-hosting a webinar to share upcoming insights from their recently published guidance note and research and highlight best practices to better serve women clients and distribution force. This will be followed by a panel who will share how they have responded to the crisis and present their interventions targeted at women.

According to WBG FINDEX, women are 9 percent less likely than men to have a bank account and, in absolute terms, 56 percent of all unbanked adults across the world are women. Research on the economic consequences of COVID-19 suggests that this pandemic is likely to widen the gender gap and thus impact women’s risk profile, and exacerbate their protection gap and need for insurance. A crisis such as COVID-19 is likely to exhaust women’s savings and force them into debt. Insurers increasingly need to consider the needs of women and how to better serve them.
