Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Powers Humanitarian Innovation Accelerator Supporting Financial Inclusion

InFiNe is pleased to share that the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Luxembourg (MAE) is powering the second edition of the Humanitarian Innovation Accelerator (HIA), a program that emphasizes financial inclusion as a key component of effective humanitarian response. Launched by the WFP Innovation Accelerator, this initiative seeks technology-driven solutions that provide crisis-affected populations with access to financial resources and services, alongside other critical needs.

The accelerator, with applications open until April 27, 2025, focuses on bridging the gap between humanitarian assistance and financial inclusion by supporting innovations that enable vulnerable communities to access, transfer, and utilize financial resources during crises.

Selected ventures will receive up to $150,000 in equity-free funding, along with 12 months of technical and methodological support from the WFP Innovation Accelerator and its partner ecosystem. Participants will also gain visibility through the Luxembourg Humanitarian Days and access to a global network of experts and potential partners.

The accelerator is seeking proven, innovative solutions in four key areas:

  • Bridging information gaps in crisis situations
  • Enabling financial inclusion for vulnerable populations
  • Strengthening essential infrastructure in humanitarian settings
  • Enhancing humanitarian response through data and technology

The ten ventures selected for the current cohort (2024-2025) represent diverse innovations addressing critical humanitarian challenges, from water treatment systems for refugee camps to privacy-preserving data sharing technologies for humanitarian action.

This initiative reflects Luxembourg’s ongoing commitment to leveraging innovation and technology to strengthen the effectiveness of humanitarian assistance worldwide.

Apply by April 27 or learn more about the Humanitarian Innovation Accelerator.
